The Concept of "Ally" and "Allyness"

Ally / Ali (Adjective): Pronounced "ah-lee", this describes someone or something that looks incredibly cool, tactical, and experienced. It usually refers to battlefield fashion or non-standard issue equipment.

The Origin: It trace back to British paratroopers and the SAS in Aden during the 1960s. Most people agree it derived from a mispronunciation of the Arabic word 'ali, meaning superior or top-shelf.

Allyness Saves Lives: A famous British Army proverb. It is the tongue-in-cheek belief that looking highly professional, or modifying your standard kit to be more functional, directly increases your chances of battlefield survival.
